JUS675 Cyber Crime, Security and the Law
This course examines the growing problem of computer-relatedcrime security and the evolution of criminal law as it confrontsnew kind of cyber crime. Electronic evidence-gathering andinvestigative techniques are among the topics considered alongwith electronic fraud and forgery, corporate espionage, identitytheft, online extortion scams, child pornography, andinfringement of intellectual property rights. The major federaland state statutes and regulations enacted to combat cybercrime and security will be carefully reviewed, as will theimportant privacy issues raised by electronic surveillance techniquesconducted by law enforcement.
