CS631 Statistical Methods

This course focuses on the theory of mathematical statistics for the student who has knowledge of probability theory (Math 301). Therefore, the main objective of this course is to develop the theory of statistics–while at the same time presenting the concepts behind statistical inference. Most of the time will be spent studying estimation and hypothesis testing. Other topics covered will include the Central Limit Theorem, (linear) regression analysis, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Students will be assigned computer projects using the software program Microsoft Excel.
