HA220 Introduction to Health Communication
This course explores communication demands across health care settings and the development of effective communication strategies and skills for use in public health and health care practice. Topics covered include relationship of health communication to health literacy; theories, models, concepts and strategies to address health communication; application of new knowledge in health communication to solve contemporary, practical problems (i.e., obesity prevention/intervention). The role of health communication in different health settings including medical care, health promotion, insurance organizations and pharmaceutical companies will be explored.
