CHEM207 Field Experience in Emergency Room Medicine

This course will provide the student with the opportunity to shadow physicians in the Emergency Department (ED) at Morristown Medical Center. Successful completion of this course requires attendance at the ED orientation program, volunteering in the emergency room four hours per week for 12 weeks, receiving a satisfactory or better evaluation at the end of each four-hour shift, and completing a learning log for the orientation program and each shift. At the end of the semester students are required to complete a CSE internship evaluation form, submit an evaluation of the program to the ED coordinator, and complete an exit interview with the CSE coordinator. Approval for registration is required and can be obtained from the CSE course coordinator. (0-1 credit) Grade Pass/Fail Open to College of Saint Elizabeth undergraduate students.

Prerequisites: GPA of 3.0 or higher, completion of 16 credits in Biology or Chemistry before beginning the program, career interest in the medical profession or permission of the instructor.
