ED605 Reading & Language Arts: Theory & Practice

This course offers approaches to literacy education for early childhood, elementary, and secondary education. It presents insights into literacy acquisition and enhancement as well as strategies for empowering students as language learners across the curriculum. Topics include research in literacy education theories of learning in the language arts, whole language, children’s and young adult literature, and ongoing professional growth. Pre-requisites: ED 601, ED 603, and ED 665. Co-requisites: ED 607 and ED 651 or ED 681 or ED 510.
