EDAS609 Managing the School and Community I

This is the first of a two-course sequence that prepares future school leaders to conduct and operate school organizations within the boundaries of constitutional, statutory, and case law. Students will study Supreme and State court cases impacting education and propose leadership action plans that model principles of servant leadership, reflective practice, and transparency to resolve legal and ethical dilemmas that take place during the operation of a school. Managing school policy, law, finance and facilities will be studied in an integrative approach along with highlights of major and ethical issues in education affecting teachers, administrators, students, and parents The course curriculum is structured to assist future school leaders in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure that the management of the school education program, facility, and its resources produce a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment for the success of all students.
