PSY320 Personality Theory
This course is a systematic examination in historical perspective of the major theories of personality, their empirical status, and their application in the field of psychopathology. Emphasis is on humanistic theories, psychoanalytic theories, trait theories and learning theories, including the work of Rogers, Allport, Maslow, Freud, Erikson, Jung, Cattell, Miller, Bandura, and Skinner. Theoretical and methodological issues facing personality theorists will also be discussed. The course is taught with consideration of sociocultural issues important to the field and students will also consider the practical applications of this area of psychology to their own personal and professional development.
