REL221 Fundamental Moral Theology

This course will present the foundations of Christian morality particularly as understood within the Roman Catholic tradition: scripture, magisterium, and the lived faith experience of believers. The course will include a survey of the history of moral theology with attention to the impact of Vatican II and contemporary pluralism on its development. Among the topics examined will be the question of evil, understandings of sin and grace, and the development of conscience. Various approaches and methodologies currently employed within the moral theology will be explored. Satisfies Cluster 4 General Education requirement
