SMDM613 Intro to Social Media Design and Management

This course explores the theory and practice of creating and posting content on many social media sites. Emphasis is placed on the sites' uses and capabilities and how a social media stylist can design, develop and manage content and analytic data for each specific platform. Students will be introduced to some of the basic principles and tenets of effective communication, and communication management, as well as be introduced to the concept of social media platform algorithms used to prioritize and promote content. Students will be required to design and populate accounts or dummy accounts for each site that is addressed.Required: 3 credits
