THEO110MP Hispanic Spirituality Culture Expressions of Faith
Stemming from an awareness of the varied cultural and spiritual expressions of faith in the Hispanic population, this course will explore the link between faith and culture in the 21 countries encompassing the Hispanic heritage. Special emphasis will be placed upon expressions of prayer, popular religiosity and the integration of Hispanic values into the US culture. (e.g. pilgrimages, the relationship with the clergy, special blessings, vigil lights, statutes and altars, and other religious practices). Anecdotal or storytelling opportunities such as single speakers or panel of speakers that have experienced conflict with cultural expressions of faith will form a part of this course.
