PSY200 Developmental Psychology

This will study prenatal development through middle and late adulthood, including geriatric and late in life issues from a developmental perspective. The biological, psychological, and social factors within the context of diverse cultural systems will be explored. Areas including cognition, personality, language and social development will be studied in relation to developments internationally as well as how these are related to other disciplines of study. Contemporary issues such as child care, child abuse, sexuality and intimacy, identity development and achievement, relationship formation with family and society, and successful aging will be explored. Research and knowledge acquired from other disciplines will be incorporated to more fully understand the broad sociocultural factors influencing development at all phases of the lifespan.
