BIO111 Fundamentals of Biology I

The first semester of a two-semester introductory course for biological science majors. Basic principles of modern biology will be presented. Major topics include the scientific method, chemical organization of life, structure, function and metabolism of the cell, photosynthesis, genetic basis of life, evolution, animal behavior and ecology. Lecture and investigative based experiments are incorporated into this course. Lecture: 3 hours; Lab 3 hours. Satisfies Outcome 3 of the General Education Curriculum.
