ED465 Clinical Practice I & Seminar
In Clinical Practice I, students develop the understandings, skills, and dispositions essential for quality teaching. Students must demonstrate mastery of subject area content, lesson planning, and multiple instructional strategies for a total of 175 hours of clinical practice. Students will have the opportunity to participate in the teaching-learning process in Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School, Secondary and Special Education settings depending on the certification(s) they are pursuing. Clinical interns will practice teach in a school setting under the guidance of an effective or highly effective cooperating teacher. Seminars are held to coordinate and evaluate clinical practice, as well as introduce and begin the edTPA portfolio that is completed and submitted during Clinical Practice II. Clinical supervisors will visit for initial observations. Clinical interns are responsible for their own transportation to their field setting. Pre-requisites: Students must have passed the Praxis exams related to their certification programs to be enrolled. The instructor will distribute a Disposition Survey for the students. The completion of the Disposition Survey is a mandatory requirement for the course. Submission of the survey will be to the Academic Coordinator. Pre-requisites: ED 101, ED 105, and ED 200. Co-requisites: ED 310 or ED 315 or ED 330. Junior Education Status. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required.
