ENG120 The Reading Life

Educated people through the ages have appreciated the importance of a rich and varied reading life. This course seeks to deepen and broaden readers' experience with texts, both classic and contemporary, while cultivating the skills necessary for complex thought, critical judgment, and a habit of lifelong reading. A major focus will be the ways that literature can help readers to understand their own experience and cultural assumptions. Includes required attendance at guest author readings. Satisfies Outcome 7 of the General Education Curriculum.
