FN630 Interventions and Strategies for Weight Management
Current issues in weight management and obesity in both children and adults are investigated in normal individuals and in those with eating and metabolic disorders. Principles of weight management including epidemiology, etiology, nutritional, behavioral, surgical, and pharmaceutical interventions are reviewed in this course. Diagnostic criteria for the major eating disorders are emphasized so that students have the ability to distinguish individuals at risk. Etiology, treatment and prognosis of the disorders will also be addressed. Prerequisites: FN 650, or permission of instructor.
