PA676 Applied Clinical Decision Making and Patient Safety Seminar

This sixth of an on-going series designed to instruct the student in the use of critical thinking skills to effectively evaluate patients and provide quality patient care, provides the student with the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained throughout the curriculum to the assessment and care of actual patients across the lifespan, including preventative care, impact of social determinants of health and psychosocial issues, and maximization of health and well-being. Review of actual patient cases with a faculty instructor allows for refinement of clinical decision making skills and judgement during supervised clinical practice experiences. Board review presentations and simulation activities are used to allow the student to continue to develop the integration of the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for competent PA clinical practice.The safety unit of this course allows the student to explore the concepts of patient safety and medical errors as well as the use of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) from the clinical perspective. The student will also identify, review and discuss current topics and events related to healthcare and PA practice with their peers.Pre-requisite: PA 675 Applied Clinical Decision Making and Cost-Effective Patient Care Seminar
