This course will be taken for 4 credits for students in thementalhealth counseling specialty and 3 credits for students in the schoolcounseling and student affairs specialty.A comprehensive surveyof individual and group approaches to assessment,evaluation,andmeasurement as they apply to counseling.Discussion of historicalperspectives, theoretical bases of assessment, standardized andnon-standardized assessment, concepts of statisticalmeasurement,reliability and validity,assessment of special populations,andmulticultural issues, and ethical and legal guidelines.Additionally,didactic knowledge of practical experience inselecting, administering,and interpreting assessment tools thatmeasure intelligence,psychological health and pathology,personality,career options, and academic achievement.
