REL299 Catholic Social Learning
This course introduces students to central themes of ethics and morality, including common ways of answer the questions "What should we do?" and "What does it mean to be a good person?" There is also a special focus on the emphasis on social justice in Catholic Social Teaching. After exploring basic issues in ethics and morality, students will be introduced to different types of applied and practical ethics, such as environmental ethics, business ethics, bioethics, and distributive justice (these will vary from semester to semester). This course also has a service-learning component in which students will have the opportunity to explore various types of service within and on behalf of the community. Satisfies Outcome 8 of the General Education Curriculum.
