BUS435 Ethics & Law in Sport Management

This course will provide students with an understanding of the legislation and legal and ethical issues involved in the supervision, management and business operations in the sport industry. Introduction of the basic legal system, terminology and principles are presented as applicable to the sport management and marketing areas. Topics examined include labor law, risk management, contracts, tort liability, negligence, gender equity, sport labor relations, and selected current issues in the industry. Ethical principles and professionalism in sport management will also be studied. Prerequisites: BUS100 Introduction to Business, BUS110 Introduction to Sport Management & Marketing, BUS215 Principles of Marketing, BUS315 Sport Marketing. Student must be junior/senior status, or receive permission from the Director or Chair of the Program.
