ED252 Early Childhood Education

This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to early childhood education. Students will trace the development of significant curricula surrounding early childhood and study current innovations, gaining insights into the effective teachings and learning practices in early childhood settings. Specific methods and behaviors for fostering developmentally appropriate curricula grounded in diversity and multiple learning styles will be addressed. Various approaches to performance-based assessment will be studied. A participatory clinical experience of ten (10) hours will provide students with opportunities to observe children as they play and learn in quality early childhood settings. Students are responsible for their own transportation to the clinical experience setting(s).Pre-requisites: ED 101 and Sophomore Education Status.
