ENG228 American Film

The study of the history of American film, focusing on classic films, conventions of film genres, exploration of director's careers, and definitions of what it is to be an American. This course seeks to encourage students to think critically as viewers of films that engage with the embodied, social, moral, spiritual, and creative lives of humans, as reflected across intercultural experiences, with a focus on what it means to be an American within a wider global context. 3 credits Cross Listed as SEU400 – Cross-referenced with HIS230 – Satisfies General Education Outcome 9, effective Spring 2024
