ENG300 Seminar in Major Literary Figures
Students will spend time getting to know a single author or a group of authors: (e.g.,Shakespeare, Austen, Faulkner, Morrison, Marilynne Robinson, Isabel Allende, Arundhati Roy, Ocean Vuong, The Beat Poets, Contemporary Memoirists, etc.). Attention will be given to the literary biographies of the writers, the works they have produced, and the context out of which their work has grown, along with literary criticism about their work. Reading of critical texts and writing of critical papers will be required. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: ENG247. 3 credits
