HIS110 Survey of Global History I

This course surveys the paramount events, ideas, individuals and institutions that shaped global history from ancient to modern times. The civilizations that emerged in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America will be studied. The defining politcal, social and economic institutions of these regions will be discussed. An awareness of the diverse patterns of cultural development that evolved will be cultivated. The interactions, contributions, and legacies of these societies will be assessed, with emphasis placed on the relevance of past events to present times.
