PSY217 Community Psychology

In contrast to traditional approaches to Psychology focused on individuals, Community Psychology examines individuals in so far as they are fundamentally influenced by, and act upon, their environments. This course explores the meanings of community and research methods typically utilized by community psychologists to further develop knowledge in this area. It also explores how human diversity, identity development, acculturation, oppression, empowerment, and social justice are important factors in understanding the integral relationship between individual psychology and community dynamics.
