AHS306 Intro Health Reg & Compliance
This introductory course examines how healthcare organizations navigate complex federal and state regulations including New Jersey's highly regulated healthcare industry. The course content includes an overview of statutes and regulatory standards under the Center for Medicare and Medicaid including EMTALA , Stark Law, False Claims Act, Exclusion Authorities, and the Civil Monetary Penalties (CMPL). An overview of The Joint Commission Standard for various healthcare organizations, Office of Civil Rights (HIPAA and HITECH), and state licensing standards for organizations and practitioners will also be provided. The student will gain an understanding of the importance of regulatory compliance in the healthcare industry and how it is integrated in operations.
