CS617 Data Analysis and Visualization
This course provides an overview of techniques and algorithms for creating effective visualizations, grounded in principles from graphic design, visual art, perceptual psychology, and cognitive science. Topics include data and image models, visualization as a cognitive process, graphical perception, and the use of shapes, colors, narrative, and text. Students will engage with various tools, packages and libraries, with an emphasis on both the creation of meaningful visualizations and the accurate, insightful interpretation of visual output.
