Capstone Experience

The sociology capstone experience encompasses (1) the production (in SOC301 and SOC365) and presentation to members of the SEU community (in SOC431) of a paper and poster representing a comprehensive literature review and (2) the production (in SOC431) of a project representing empirical research. Students must also pass comprehensive objective exams given in SOC371 and SOC301 with a grade of 70 or better to remain in the program.

Sufficient Progress in the Major

Students must achieve C’s or better in all sociology courses for them to count toward the degree. Students who receive a grade lower than a C in a course must retake the course to attain a C or higher. Students who receive lower than a C in two or more sociology courses may be dropped from the program.
