Capstone Requirement

For the capstone experience, students will  participate in article discussions, classroom presentations, and a final independent article dissection in their senior year.

Sufficient Progress in the Major

  • Students must have passed BIO111 and BIO113 with a grade of C+ or better in order to continue as a biology major in their sophomore year.
  • Students must pass, with a grade of C or better, BIO209, BIO251, CHEM151, CHEM153 (and all of their respective labs), MATH151 and MATH153 or MATH119 prior to the start of fall semester of the junior year to continue as a biology major.
  • Students in the B.A. biology degree program must have passed all of the above courses as well as BIO303 and at least one upper-level biology elective – all with a grade of C or better – prior to the start of the fall semester of the senior year to continue as a biology major.
  • In addition, students in the B.S. biology degree program must have passed all of the above courses as well as BIO303, CHEM211 and CHEM213 and at least one upper-level biology elective – all with a grade of C or better – prior to the start of the fall semester of the senior year to continue as a biology major.
