Capstone Requirement
Capstone Experience: an exam is given in two parts on two separate dates. The first day of the exam includes objective questions that consist of multiple choice questions covering Fundamentals of Biology I and II, Microbiology and Cell Biology. In addition, a separate exam section covers basic solution calculations. The second day consists of essay questions in upper level elective courses specific to the B.S. program.
Sufficient Progress in the Major
- Students must have passed BIO111 and BIO113 with a grade of C+ or better in order to continue as a biology major in their sophomore year.
- Students must pass, with a grade of C or better, BIO209, BIO251, CHEM151, CHEM153 (and all of their respective labs), MATH151 and MATH153 or MATH119 prior to the start of fall semester of the junior year to continue as a biology major.
- Students in the B.A biology degree program must have passed all of the above courses as well as BIO303 and at least one upper-level biology elective – all with a grade of C or better – prior to the start of the fall semester of the senior year to continue as a biology major.
- In addition, students in the B.S. biology degree program must have passed all of the above courses as well as BIO303, CHEM211 and CHEM213 and at least one upper-level biology elective – all with a grade of C or better – prior to the start of the fall semester of the senior year to continue as a biology major.
