B.S. in Biology/M.D. Dual Degree Program with AUA

American University of Antigua College of Medicine will offer admission to the educational program leading to the Doctor of Medicine degree to graduates (B.S. in biology) of Saint Elizabeth University. Saint Elizabeth University (SEU) and the American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) have developed a B.S. / M.D. program for qualified students. Students attend Saint Elizabeth University for four years and complete their required prerequisite science and math courses as well as general education course requirements. Following the successful completion of a B.S. in biology at SEU, a student will then attend the American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) for four years and complete training in medicine. A student receives their M.D. at the completion of the program at AUA.

SEU Degree Program Requirements

Admission to Program:

Applicants will be evaluated based on high school record (completion of high school English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, and physics), grade point average, satisfactory SAT scores, and high school math/science teacher recommendations.

While enrolled at SEU, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of prerequisite math and science courses in the biology major. A grade of C+ or better is required for BIO111 and BIO113; a grade of C or better in the other prerequisite math and science courses.
  • Students are to maintain a minimum cumulative G.P.A of 3.25 (on a 4.00 scale) or better in the prerequisite math and science courses, and an overall cumulative G.P.A. of 3.5.
  • Completion of all General Education requirements.
  • Completion of B.S. in Biology.

Qualifying for enrollment at AUA:

  • Completion of all prerequisite math and science courses for biology major (as described above) along with the completion of general education courses and all prerequisite courses required for admission to AUA.
  • Required G.P.A as described under SEU requirements.
  • A score of 24 or higher on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).
  • Satisfactory evaluation in a personal interview by AUA interviewer and recommendation for admission by an AUA Admission Officer who has interviewed the applicant in person.
  • A timely and satisfactory formal application.
